Whether as an active riding member providing firefighting or emergency medical services to your community, or as an administrative member in a support role, we welcome everyone to join us!
Types of Members
Fire/EMS
Active Fire/EMS riding members provide firefighting and emergency medical services to the community.
We offer numerous basic to advanced fire, rescue, EMS & leadership courses and all training is provided at no cost to you.
Participate in active training and firefighting.
Assist and support fundraising activities.
Must pass drug screening test and submit to a criminal background check.
There are many administrative roles involved in running LGVFC, both large and small. Beyond the business of keeping LGVFC running smoothly, we also work on fundraising, community engagement and education. We offer many special events throughout the year, including Breakfast with Santa, Santa Rides, and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny.
We also have many committees, any of which you will be welcomed to join. Complete the interest form and we will reach out to you to schedule a tour.
What kind of commitment is required to become a volunteer firefighter?
In the true spirit of “volunteerism” no member receives compensation, however, there are many benefits to helping your community.
To ensure utmost safety of our personnel, members receive considerable training before they are allowed to participate on an emergency incident. The training, which comes from the State of Maryland, the Baltimore County Fire Department and the Long Green Volunteer Fire Company, is provided at no cost to the member.
We ask for participation in company meetings and work nights to make sure our administrative and suppression responsibilities are kept at high standards. However, we also understand the complexities of today’s family responsibilities and appreciate any time an individual can give.
