From Mid March until the end of October Long Green Volunteer Fire Co. hosts between 8 and 9 food trucks to serve the community. The food trucks begin serving at 4:30pm and run until about 8:30pm every Wednesday.
Many people have asked us how do Food Truck Wednesday support Long Green VFC? The truth is that it’s a win/win for everyone involved. We think that is the secret to our success! 🤫
First and most importantly we are supporting small business (Food Trucks) by giving them a consistent location to set up and serve their food. This idea for an event was developed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a safe way to social distance and enjoy food you didn’t have to cook! Needless to say the popularity has never stopped, in fact it has only grown! Food Truck Wednesdays are still going strong!
How does the Fire company benefit? The food trucks give a preset nominal donation to the fire company each time they attend our event. All remaining profits are the food trucks. The Fire company sells non-alcoholic beverages and we also place fire boots around to collect additional donations.
Lastly, the community wins by having access to quality and unique food options that they would not normally have on a regular basis.
