Testing Water Flow At Glen Meadows

5/21/09 - After the Landing site call in Jacksonville's area Engine 382 went to Glen Meadows to test the water flow from one of their ponds.  Also on location was Battalion Chief 11, Engine 10, and the water resource committee.  Engine 10 back flushed the water intake to remove the debris from the water intake in the pond.  After the system was back flushed Engine 382 pulled a draft and supplied about 600 gallons a minute through a three inch line to blitz fire which is a nozzle that has a base.  Crews where on location for about a hour and half.

5/21/09 - Around 4pm Jacksonville, Station 47, was alerted for an auto accident involving a motorcycle.  After 47's engine and ambulance arrive they request Trooper 1 to transport the patient to the trauma center.  This brings E382 to handle the landing site at Jarrettsville pike and Merrymans Mill road.  Units clear the landing site at 4:36pm.  Other units on locations, E473, IV475 and EMS 7

5/18/09 - For the May monthly drill night Long Greens members trained on auto extrication techniques.  Techniques trained on where, roof and door removal, stabilization, equipment placement,  engine company operations on the rescue scene, incident command.  Training lasted about 3 hours.

5/18/09 - Around 5:30pm Long Green Was alerted for an auto accident with one of the cars being in the woods.  Engine 382 arrived to find a three car motor vehicle crash with one SUV about 25 feet into the woods.  The Crew from Long Green Stabilized all of the vehicles on location.  E382 was on location for about a half hour.

Auto Fire On  Baldwin Mill Road

5/15/09 - Around 11:45pm Company 38 was alerted for an auto fire on Baldwin Mill Road.  E382 arrived to find a fully involved auto.  The crew from the engine quickly extinguished the car then requested FID to investigate the cause of the fire.  Units where on location for about one and half hours.

5/15/09 - Around 7:40pm Station 38 was alerted for an Auto accident on Hydes road.  While SU387 was in route the call was upgraded to a rescue.  SU387 arrived to find that a car had struck a pole and had come to rest on the side of the road.  After being on location for a few minutes the rescue assignment was cancelled.  475 from Jacksonville handled patient care.  Units where on location for a half hour.

5/14/09 - Around 3pm station 38 was alerted for a truck that had hit a pole on Long Green road.  SU387 arrived to find a work truck that had struck a bridge and a telephone pole.  The cause of the accident was a tire had blown sending the truck out of control.  SU387 requested BGE to fix the pole and Baltimore County Highways to check the damage to the bridge.  Long Green's crew was on location for about a half hour.

05/13/09 -On this Wednesday afternoon Station 38's members had a refresher course on Hazardous Materials Operations.  A member of the Baltimore County Hazmat team came out to Station 38 and went over some Hazmat protocol updates and a general refresher on different types of Hazmat scenes that we might come across.  The practical portion of the class was to make a "blanket" of foam to simulate actual foam operations on a real incident.  We would like to thank the member from station 14 for this training opportunity.  Other Units: Hazmat 114

Working Fire on Milldale Court

4/30/09 -Around 3:30pm station 38 and surrounding companies were alerted for a dwelling fire at 4009 Milldale Court.  Engine 382 arrived to find a two story single family home with fire showing from the roof.  A tanker strike team and a working fire assignment was requested. Crews used four inch and three quarter hand lines and over 20,000 gallons to extinguish the fire.  After the investigation was conducted it was found that a clogged dryer vent caused the fire.  Units operated until 7 pm.  Other companies on location:  Jacksonville (47), Providence (29), Towson (1), Parkville (10) Texas (17), Cockysville (39), Perry Hall (55), Kingsville (48), Battalion Chief 11, Safety 4, FID 4, Central Alarmers Rehab Units.

3/10/09 - Around 4pm Long Green was alerted for a dwelling fire at 4800 Hydes Road.  Engine 382 arrived to find an old farm house with heavy smoke showing.  At this time a tanker strike team was requested.  E382 laid a supply line and the crew started making an interior attack.  A few minutes into the call the next due units started arriving and assisting the crews that were on location.  All the crews on location worked together well.  Units operated on location for about 4 hours.  Other companies on location:  Jacksonville(47), Kingsville(48), Providence(29), Lutherville(30), Parkville(10), Fallston(HAR13), Texas(17), Hereford(44), BC11, Rehab Units

1050PI Rollover With Ejection

02/11/09 -   Around 7:30am Co. 38 was alerted for a motor vehicle crash on Long Green Road.  E382 arrived to find a suv that had rolled several times.  The crew from E382 started patient care until IV475 arrived.  They transported to the trauma center.  Units were on location just over a half hour.  Other units on location:  EMS1, M485, IV475 

Fatal Auto Crash On Dulaney Valley Road

02/09/09 - Around 11:30pm station 38 was alerted for a motor vehicle crash with personal injury on Dulaney Valley road by the golf course.  Moments later the call was was upgraded to a rescue box.  E382 arrived to find a car that had struck a fence and a tree.  Crews cut away tree limbs to try and make access to the passenger compartment.  Crews then discovered that the patient in the car had passed away from injuries suffered during the crash.  After the medical examiner cleared them to do so, the squad crew of off 303 extricated the person.

4 Alarm Apartment Fire in Parkville

02/05/09 - Around 1:15am Parkville and surrounding companies were alerted for an apartment fire.  Engine 10 arrived to find fire showing from the second and third floor.  The officer off of engine 10 requested the second alarm bringing Engine 382 to the fire.  A few minutes later command requested the third alarm bringing E381 to location.  Engine 382 pumped a line supplying E55.  Crews from Long Green assisted with extinguishing the fire.

Mutual Aid For Fire Box in Fallston

01/31/09 -   Around 11:30pm Harford County and Long Green units were alerted for a dwelling fire on Fallsbrook Manor Drive.  Company 13 equipment arrived to find fire showing.  The crew from E382 assisted in extinguishing the fire while the engine hauled 15,000 gallons of water.  E381 hauled 20,000 gallons of water.  Long Green equipment was on location for about seven hours.  Photo Courtesy Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company (HAR 3)

01/20/09 - Around 3:30pm Long Green and Surrounding Companies were alert for a rescue box on bottom road.  They arrive to find a car into a telephone pole trapping people inside.  The engine, squad and truck companies starting extricating the patients.  The extrication time was an approximatlly an hour.  Units on location also request two medivac helicopters to transport two patients to the trauma center in Baltimore.  Companies on location: Kingsville (48), Fallston (13) Fullerton (8), Jacksonville (47) and Batallion Chief 1.

01/11/09- Around 6:20am CO. 38 was alerted for an auto accident with rollover on Long Green pk and Church Lane.  Engine 382 arrived find a Dodge Caravan on its roof.  The engine crew secured the scene and started patient care until the medic unit from Fallston Volunteer Fire Co. arrived.  Fallston transported the patient to the hospital.  Units where on location for about 45 minutes.

8/16/08 - Around 6:30pm Station 38 was alerted for a auto accident at  the intersection of Glen arm and Notchcliff Roads.  E382 arrived to find that a car had rolled of the road and down a hill.  The crew from the engine handled patient care until Medic 11 arrived.  M11 transported to the hospital.  Units operated on location for a little over a half hour.

8/16/08 - Around 3:30pm Long Green VFC was alerted for a Motor Cycle accident on Glen Arm Road west of Harford Road.  Units arrived to find that motor cycle and a small suv had collied. 8/13/08 - Around 11:30am Co 38 and others were alerted for a auto accident at Dulaney Valley Road and Raven Hurst.  E382 arrived to find that a Toyota truck had rolled off the road and the passenger was being held upside down by the seat belt.  The crews cut the seat belt and extricated the patient from the cab of the truck.  M395 transported the patient to the hospital.  Other units on scene:  BC1, Chief 13(Harford County), E473, SQ303, T297, M395

Non-Emergency Call Turns Into Rescue

6/10/08 -  Just before 6:30 Company 38 was alerted for a non-emergency call, tree on a car.  Seconds later E382 called out with 4 personnel on board.  E382 arrived to find a tree on a Honda Accord with a person trapped in the drivers seat.  The officer on the engine requested a rescue assignment while the crew started extricating the driver.  The crew from the engine used the "jaws of life," part of our new rescue system to pry the door open.  The driver of the car escaped the crushed car with no injuries.  The engine was on location for about 20 minutes.

6/7/08 -  Around quarter to 2pm Long Green was alerted for an auto fire at 5341 Glen Arm Rd.  E382 arrived to in a 1999 Dodge Durango with the engine compartment fully involved with extension into the passenger compartment.  The extinguished the fire and requested FID to investigate the cause of the fire.

Long Green Goes to Jarrettsville Training

5/10/08- Co. 7 Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company invited Long Green to come and train in several live fire evolutions. Two of the senior officers acted as instructors as the rest of the members participated in the evolutions. This was a great learning experience for some of our newer members. Crews rotated through evolutions for several hours.  We would like to thank Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company for inviting us to a very successful training exercise.

4/26/08 - Around 3 in the afternoon Jacksonville was alerted for a 1050pi with rescue.  They arrived to find a 2 car motor vehicle crash with both cars having patients trapped.  Once the priority of the patients were established command requests 2 MSP helicopters to transport the patients to the trauma center, this brought E382 to the scene to be the landing site engine.  There where multiple units on location that operated for about an hour.

Long Green Trains with New Equipment
4/21/08- For this months training exercise we trained with our rescue system that we purchased from Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company.  The system is made up of an O cutter, Spreaders, 2 Rams and a Combo tool which is a cutter and spreader together.  This system will be carried on our current U388 until Special Unit 387 is delivered sometime in August.

4/19/08 -  Around quarter after 5 on a Co. 38 was alerted for a brush fire in Loch Raven Reservoir. The engine crew walked back and found about 5 acres on fire back at the cliffs.  Crews worked for about 6.5 hours to extinguish the fire.  Other units on scene:  To many to list

26" Gas Line Leaks On Notchcliff Road

4/17/08 - While returning to the station from a prior call E382 was picked up for an oder of gas in the Harford Road and Notchcliff area.  E382 arrived to find that a vent had been knocked off of the 26" Manor Gas Line that runs from Monkton to Sparrows Point.  Natural Gas was blowing into the atmoshpere causing the oder of gas from Glen Arm all the way to Perry Hall.  The crew stood by for saftey reasons while the BGE crew plugged the leak.  Units operated for about 4.5 hours.

4/6/08 - Around quarter after 5 Company 38 was alerted with Jacksonville for a fall patient at 12820 Long Green Pike.  U386 arrived and a few minutes after arrival requested a Maryland State Police Medivac to transported to the trauma center.  This brought engine 382 to location for the landing zone.  IV 475 and EMS 7 were also on location.  Units operated for 45 minutes.

4/4/08 - Around 10:30pm on a Friday night Long Green was alerted for a 1050pi with rollover.  E382 arrived to find that a van had gone threw a pole and rolled on its side.  The crew from the engine stabilized the van and the scene.  E382's crew operated on location for about a half hour.

3/29/08 - Around quarter to four Engine 382 reported to dispatch, a motor vehicle crash had occurred at the intersection of Long Green and Manor roads.  They arrived to find a Chevy Cavalier had struck a Mercury Tracer in the drivers door.  Crews on location started patient care. Once 475 was on location they took over patient care and transported to the hospital.  Units cleared the scene 4:07pm.

3-24-08 - While 381 was on the Maryland Line call, E382 handled another call in our first due area.  Around ten minutes of ten, Long Green was alerted for a 1050pi with rollover.  They arrived to find that a truck had rolled onto another car.  The crew from the engine secured the scene and assisted M110 with patient care.  M110 transported the patient to the hospital.

 3-24-08 - Late this past Sunday evening Maryland Line VFC was alerted for a dwelling fire.  Units arrived to find a fully involved dwelling.  Command requested a tanker strike team bringing Long Greens Engine Tanker 381 to location.  While on scene 381 hauled 2 loads of water for a total of 4,000 gallons.  There where multiple units on location from Baltimore Co, Carroll County and York County PA.

Unkown Type Fire Turns Into Chimney Fire

3-21-08 - Around quater after 7pm Co. 38 was alerted for an unknown type fire.  When E382 arrived they found that they had a working chimney fire.  Crews laddered the roof and dropped "chimney bombs" to extinguish the fire in the chimney.  Crews worked on the inside of the house to remove fire wood and ash from the wood stove and wood furnace.  Units from Long Green and Jacksonville operated on location for about an hour.

3-8-08 - Around 4:10pm on a Saturday afternoon Long Green and surrounding companies were alerted for a tree into a truck on Harford Road.  A tree had fallen across the road and right in the path of oncoming traffic.  The truck had plowed right into the tree smashing the cab of the truck.  E382 and 485 handled patient care while the crew from T8 took care of cutting up the tree.  485 transported the patient to the hospital.

03/01/08 - This past Saturday morning around quater after nine, company 38 was alerted for a vehicle into a pole.  E382 arrived to find an UTZ truck had struck a telephone pole.  Crew members started to do patient care and stabilize the truck.  The personal on scene decided that the driver was a priority one patient and had to be flown to the trauma center.  E382 requested trooper 1 to transport and E381 from the station for the landing zone.  Units operated on location for about an hour.  Other units on scene:  475 and Trooper 1

2/28/08 - Around quater to one this Thursday afternoon station 38 was alerted for a 1050pi with two cars involved at Fork road and Bottom road's intersection.  E382 arrived to find a Chevy Blazer and a Honda Accord had collided.  The crew from our engine quicky took control of the scene and made it safe for everyone that was involved.  Units cleared the scene at 1:21pm.  Other units on location:  475 and 485

38-4 Motor Vehicle Crash

2-23-08 - At 2:44 on a Saturday morning Long Green and Parkville fire stations where alerted for a motor vehicle crash on Glen Arm Road. Engine 382 arrived to find a Jeep Wrangler on its side. The crew from 382 stabilized the jeep and started patient care.  Medic 110 transported the patient to the hospital.  Units operated on scene until 3:18am.

38-5 Dryer Fire at Glen Meadows Retirement Home

2/16/08 - Around quarter to 8 Saterday night station 38 and surrounding companies where alerted for a building fire at 11630 Glen Arm Rd.  As the equipment started arriving firefighters found that there had been a dryer fire in the basement level of the facility.  The first arriving crews removed the dryer and started ventilating the basement level.  Smoke had filtered its way into the first, second and third floors.  The commanding officer decided instead of evacuating the residents, to shelter them in place.  Crews quickly vented the smoke from the building and cleard the scene around ten o' clock.  Other units on location:  E291, T297, F293, BC11, E10, E11, M11, E101, T1, EMS6

2/4/08 - Today Captain Ron Harrison and Past Captain Greg Stolins picked up the cab and chasis for Special Unit 388 from Plaza Ford in Bel Air.  It is a 2008 Ford F550 with a 6.4L Power Stroke Diesel engine.  This unit is going to replace the current utilty 388, a 1986 GMC.  In the next couple of days it will be delivered to Pennsylvania Fire Apparatus for the construction of the body.  Once the unit is completed the unit will carry an Amkus rescue tool, Junkyard dog rescue struts, medical equipment and assorted hand tools.  388 will be outfitted with light tower, generator, 300 gpm pump, 300 gallon tank, 200 feet of 1 3/4 handline. With in the passenger compartment will have two Scott air packs.  We are expecting completion of the unit sometime in July or August.

Around quarter after eleven on a Sunday morning Long Green was alerted for a 1050pi rollover at the intersection of Dulaney Valley Road and Raven Hurst.  E382 arrived to find a vehicle that had rolled into the woods.  The crew from E382 secured the scene and waited for police. 

48-4 Chimney Fire

1/12/08 - Around nine o' clock in the morning Co. 48 was alerted for a chimney fire on Country Hill Ct.  This brougt Long Green's E382 and other companies to the kingsville area.  E481 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the chimney and started an aggressive attack on the fire in the chimney.  E382 opperated in the attic extinguishing the fire in the attic and checking for extension.  After the fire was out we assisted Co. 48 in racking up equipment.  Crews operated for a little over an hour.  Units on location:  E481, E482, S483, SU486, TT488, E471, HCE1311, E10, T8, HCT1331, BC3

Around quarted after three Jacksonville, Company 47, was alerted for a 1050pi at the intersection of Jarretsville pk and Sweet Air Road.  473 arrived to find a two car motor vehicle crash, one vehicle with its gas tank leaking gas into the storm drain down the hill from the incident.  Command requested a Long Green unit with absorbent as well as the HAZMAT team from Co 14, Brooklandville and MDE.  The Crew from U388 assisted crews in the application of absorbent and removal of contaminated earth and leaves from the storm drain.

Around mid-night Long Green and surrounding companies where alerted for motor vehicle crash on Dulaney Valley Road.  E382 arrived to find a car into a tree.  Long Green crews started the extrication of the patient and where assited by T297 crew. The patient was transported to the trauma center by 475.  Battalion chief 1 was also on location.

8/24/07 - A little after midnight station 38 was alerted for a 10-50pi roll-over at the intersection of Harford road and Hutschenreuter road.  E382 arrived to find a Volkswagen golf on its side.  The crew from 38 stabilized the vehicle and M485 transported the patient.  Units cleared location at 01:06 in the morning.

8/16/07 - Around 5 in the evening E382 called enroute to a 1050PI on Long Green PK just past Hydes road.  E382 arrived to find a black Mustang had hit a concret embankment.  The crew from E382 stabilized the patient and assisted 485 with patient care. Units on location for a half hour.

6/13/07 - Around 23:08 hours Company 38 was alerted for a dwelling fire on Dulaney Court.  Apon arrival the crew from E382 discoved a basement fire.  The crews extingquished the fire and checked for extension into the rest of the house.  After FID conclueded his investgation remaing crews on location conducted salvage and overhaul opperations.  All units cleared around 01:20 hours.  Other Units on location:  E471, AU478, E292, F293, T297, E10, E17, FID6, BC11

06/11/07 - Dispatched 16:44 hours and cleared 16:50 hours The crew arrived to find a VW Jetta on its side up at the corner of Manor Road and Kanes Road.

06/03/07 - About 7:50 in the evening a fire was reported in Violetville's area.  The first alarm units arrived to find heavy fire showing.  The fire quickly went multi alarm.  After the fourth alarm was requested every volunteer fire company in Baltimore County was alerted to man their stations.  With in minutes Long Green was attended with 17 volunteers.  Around 9:45pm fill in assignments where dispatched and Long Green was alerted to transfer to Company 360, Lansdwone.  E382, U388 manned Co 36 untill 5am.

5/27/07 - E382 arrived to find a small SUV on it's side in a field just past Williams Road on Long Green Pike.  Once starting patient care command canceled the rescue assignment and requested the trooper to air lift the patient to the trauma center.  E381 handled the landing zone.  Other units on location 475, 485, EMS1

05/04/07 - E382 arrived with fire showing.  The crew made forcible entry and started the initial fire attack with a 1.75 hand line.  E381 was alerted for the tanker strike team.  After the Fire Investigator concluded with his investigation crews from 47, 38, and 48 conducted salvage and overhaul operations.  Other units on scene:  E471, E473, SU476, M475, E481, E482, S482, TT488, B484, E392, SU393, E291, E292, E302, BC11, E101, E17, AU426, FID2, Rehab Units. 4/29/07 - E382 responded with the working fire assignment.  A few minutes after arrival the crew was released from the fire ground and sent to fill in company 29 for the duration of the event. Dispatched at 03:17 hours and cleared approx. 06:45 hours

04/10/07 - E382 arrived to find a fully involved auto.  The crew extinguished the fire and extricated the victim by removing the roof and driver’s door and performing a dash lift.  Other unit was 485. Dispatched at 23:20 hours and cleared 01:50 hours.

03/11/07 - Engine 381 arrived to investigate a fire alarm.  Once firefighters made entry to the building they smelled smoke and heard explosions.  The crew found fire and requested a fire box.  Engine 381 extinguished the fire with the assistance of company 38 crew. 11/16/06 - Engine 382 arrived with smoke showing.  The crew discovered a bedroom fire.  Crews extinguished the fire and performed salvage and overhaul.  E381 was the secondary water source staged on the street.  Other Units:  E471, U477, TSU474, FL293, E10, TI, BC1. 08/09/06 - Engine 382 arrived to find a patient trapped in their car.  The crew from 382 assisted T1 and S303 with the removal of the patient.  E10 handled the landing site for the trooper. Other units:  EMS1, M11, S303, BC1, E10, Trooper. Dispatched at 06:30 hours and cleared 07:23 hours.


38-18, 1050pi upgraded to HAZMAT Box

07/13/06 - Engine 381 arrived to find that a propane truck rolled over on its side.  381 requested the HAZMAT box assignment and a tanker strike team.  Company 38 crews assisted HAZMAT team for approximately 12 hours.  Other units:  U298, T1, E101, M11, BC11, FL19, HM114, E14, HM1, E302, E471, E15, HM515, E17, E297, TSU474, TT446, E503, TSU444, U4ZZ, TSU504, AU478, M55, DL5, TT488, EMS7, REH155, 156, U157, M14, MU 216, REH154, 153, SU476, MU217. 06/23/06 - Engine 381 secured utilities and assisted first alarm equipment with salvage and overhaul. Dispatched at 04:15 hours and cleared 05:40 hours.


44-3, Fire Box

05/19/06 - Engine 381’s crew assisted company 44 equipment with extinguishment of the fire.  Engine 381 hauled 6 loads of water which is 12,000 gallons. Dispatched at 19:50 hours and cleared 23:56 hours.


38-8, Rescue Box with Auto Fire

05/03/06 - E382 arrived to find a fully involved automobile.  Two priority 1 patients had been ejected from the vehicle.  The Officer from 382 requested two troopers to fly out the patients.  Engine 382 extinguished the fire.  Engine 381 arrived and assisted with the fly out of the patients.  Other units:  T297, IV475, S483, M17, EMS7, BC11, SU486, Trooper 1, Trooper 8. Dispatched at 02:00 hours and cleared 03:30 hours.

382

04/29/06 - Engine 382 assisted first alarm equipment. Dispatched at 19:45 hours and cleared 22:05 hours.


38-10, 10-50 PI with Rescue

04/21/06 - The crew off of Engine 382 assisted with the extrication of the patient.  A trooper was requested to fly out the patient.  E10 handled the landing sit for the Trooper 8. Other units:  IV485, M10, T8, S483, E10, Trooper 8. Dispatched at 10:04 hours and cleared 11:04 hours.

04/02/06 - The crew from Engine 381 assisted with ventilation of exposures.  Engine 382 assisted with salvage and overhaul. Dispatched at 17:30 hours and cleared 20:12 hours.


47-13, Fire Box
382

03/11/06 - Engine 382 assisted in extinguishment of the fire and then went to fill in for station 48. Dispatched at 22:00 hours and cleared 23:53 hours.

381, 382, 388

02/06/06 - Engine 382 arrived with heavy fire showing.  Crews from station 38 and station 48 used about 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.  Engine 381 and TT488 hauled the water.  Other units:  E481, TT488, FID. Dispatched at 17:40 hours and cleared 19:30 hours.
